An estimated 50,000 children in Arkansas have experienced the loss of a parent to in prison. A child with an incarcerated parent carries a seven times greater risk of future imprisonment than children whose parents have never been incarcerated. The Centers offers distinct interventions to help children heal from multiple traumas associated with a parent in prison, reconnect with their parents and stabilize the family. Comprehensive services offered in statewide sites include parenting classes, mentoring and literacy education. For more information, contact Pam Plummer at (501) 666-6833.
